Capture of the... meaty Proco Fat Rat going into the preamp of a Mesa Boogie Mark III. Using the highly acclaimed '85 Whiteface Reissue RAT as the main platform, the added bass enhancement circuit provides a significant bass boost and simultaneous high cut – this makes the pedal more suitable for bass guitar, lower tunings, as well as fattening up and smoothing low gain settings, making this a good candidate for overdrive use.
By the turn of the millennium, RAT mods had become a dime a dozen. Boutique pedal builders had found a zillion ways to retool this classic circuit, swapping out op-amps and clipping diodes to produce never-before-heard sonic textures. The FAT RAT captures this trend perfectly. A switchable clipping section toggles between the standard silicon circuit and a MOSFET-based one, arming you with an amp-like tone and feel that are still decidedly RAT-ish.
This preset can be used either with a Power Amp (or the FX Loop of an Amp) and a Cabinet or straight to an Audio Interface, PA Speakers or FRFR. If you intend to use a Power Amp and Cabinet, please turn OFF the pedal's CAB SIM. Includes both STUDIO and LIVE NVA Matching Cabinet Impulse Responses.
ALL INCLUDED CAPTURES ARE DI CAPTURES, meaning that you can either use them with your ToneX pedal and a power amp/cabinet or select any Stock Cab/IR of your choice when connected to FRFR/PA Speakers or Audio Interface (using either the ToneX pedal or the ToneX Plugin). Comes with a NVA Custom Alnico Cream IR and a NVA Custom V30 IR plus a Bonus Bass IR!
The captures for the Proco Fat Rat include:
