Tone Capture of the ballsy EHX Big Muff Pi & Bass Big Muff Pi. A classic drive/fuzz pedal for many guitarists and bassists. Especially for bassists it is something you would usually find in their pedalboard. For some, the EHX Big Muff has that nasty thick sound that’s cool for heavy riffs while for others it has that singing lead tone for solos. Either way, the Big Muff has always been inimitable among other pedals and that’s the way it is.
The controls of the Big Muff are pretty simple, Volume, Tone and Sustain. The sustain knob controls the amount of gain of the pedal. While low settings produce a semi-transparent drive tone, turning the knob makes your sound thicker and fuzzier. Also, low settings are sometimes used in order to give more sustain to your current overdrive sound, and that’s why it is known as distortion/sustainer. The Bass Big Muff gives one more solution to bassists, those whose bass amount is never enough, a bass boost switch.
This preset is best used with a power amp (or the FX Loop of an amp) and a cabinet. If you don't intend to use a cabinet please turn on cab sim and either select one of the stock cab sims or use one of the included matched cabinet IRs. This tone capture comes with a Roland Jazz Chorus JC-120 2x12 Combo IR with two more tube variations!
